By refusing to honor billions in state-issued IOUs beyond Friday, California’s largest banks intensified the state budget crisis and created potential cash-flow problems for vendors and local governments.

The big banks, led by Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Chase, held firm in their promise not to accept the state’s registered warrants after the close of business Friday. Business owners and other IOU holders scrambled to find alternative methods of cashing in the notes, such as taking out short-term loans or applying for membership in credit unions still willing to accept the IOUs.

The only major banks to relent were Citi and Bank of the West. Citi said it would honor the IOUs until next Friday, and Bank of the West said it would accept them from current customers "until further notice."

"We wanted to help our existing customers," said Bank of the West spokesman Jim Cole.

The other big banks said they would offer lines of credit or other forms of assistance to cash-strapped customers, but only on a case-by-case basis.

"We’ll work with them, just like we always do," said Bank of America spokeswoman Julie Westermann. But "we will only make loans to people who are creditworthy," she said.

More than $390 million in IOUs have been issued by the state controller’s office since a week ago Thursday, with another $2.5 billion set to go through the end of the month. As long as most big banks were willing to honor the notes, recipients could treat them like regular checks. When that ended Friday, they started looking for answers.

Capital Datacorp, a hardware-software vendor in North Highlands, was able to cash $3,000 in IOUs earlier this week at Wells Fargo – but is still due to be paid $750,000 by the state this month. That represents 75 percent of its business.

I want to start a note taking business for college students. I want to do it to mainly help students who are disabled, sick, can’t make it to class, have work conflicts, vacation or any other matter that prevents them from getting the information they need to succeed in school. I know students can just ask their classmates for notes but I know some people don’t. Does anybody think there is a market for this?

At most schools, they already have programs for this sort of thing in which they hire students who are already taking the class to take notes. You might want to contact your student services department if you’re interested in this sort of job, or perhaps your professor.

Did you know that Bill Gates’ real name is William Henry Gates III? Nowadays, he is known as Bill Gates (III) where III means the order of third.

So what’s so eerie about this name?

Open a new file
Scroll down to row 95

As of this point in time, countless witnesses all over the world have verified that it is a real eye opener. It could be a joke by MS programmers. Or is it?

Would it be too surprising if Bill Gates was the antichrist? After all, the bible foretells that someone powerful would rise up and lead the world to destruction. And Bill Gates definitely has this kind of power in his hands.

More than 80% of computers in the world today run on windows and DOS (including those at the Pentagon). If all of his products have some kind of small program embedded, like this "hall of tortured souls," that can give him control to set off nuclear arsenals, create havoc in security systems and financial systems all over the world, etc. All from his headquarters.

This isn’t too far from reality. Just by using the Internet Explorer may just allow him to map out what you have on your computer bit by bit each time you log on. Perhaps the end of time is near and this is just a tip of the iceberg?

This is something you should think about. If the Bible, in the book of Revelations, says that without the sign of the beast, one would not be able to buy, sell, do business transactions, etc., then my question to you now is this….

Is the Internet a necessity today for doing business? The Internet also bears the sign. Note that the Internet is often referred to as the World Wide Web, or www. Another way to write W is V/ or VI.

Here is something to ponder. Isn’t everything going towards the Internet? (i.e., buying, selling, business transactions) Isn’t Microsoft always on the move to have a monopoly when it comes to software technology? And now the Internet?

Revelations also says that the mark of the beast will be carved on one’s hand and on one’s forehead. If the Internet would indeed be the beast, aren’t we all starting to carry it on our hands and foreheads? The screen is the forehead and the hand uses the mouse.

Are things finally starting to fall into place or are we just letting our imagination run???? Remember, the devil came to cheat, steal and to destroy. So, be vigilant about Bill Gates and Microsoft!

I found the writings above from another user and found them very interesting, so I am posting it here. Bill gates does seem nice but remember that the antichrist i a liar. There are many predictions about the antichrist that fit the decription of Bill, first the antichrist is smart, successful, and powerful- as is bill. The anti christ is also told to do good at first but then he will betray, bill has been giving to charity and helping the earth. People will receive the mark of the beast, well many people think that people will receive a chip as the mark and who is better for the job than Bill.
Many predictions say that the antichrist will rise from the middle east, well they never said that the antichrist will be born in the east bill might one day go to he middle east and start his debut of terror. Many people do consider Bill good looking which fits the antichrists description. And the predictions of the antichrist say that know one will know who is the antichrist- And watch when I post this detailed question, I assume that most of you will say "no he is not" in which would be proof enough.

The tortured soul thing works it seems. Programmers often place hidden code purely for their own amusement, they are known as easter eggs. Microchip designers likewise hide pictures visible only under microscope on silicon chips.

The hall of tortured souls could in all likelyhood refer to the programmers themselves as a picture of them appears in one of the rooms.

Someone has mentioned at the time that microsoft was working on port or conversion of doom and the excel developers got hold of the code. I cant really remember doom that well and cant really say if it the same sort of layout.

Business Time Management: How to achieve your Objectives

Do you set goal and objectives, begin them with good intentions to complete them, then get busy and fail to finished them! This is a common to many people; learn how to take your business from good to GREAT using our 5 step process……

The problem is you will have two types of objectives to do, your URGENT day to day tasks that deliver your results, (your day Job) and your IMPORTANT tasks the tasks that will deliver your vision, (your working ON the business job). In a show down the URGENT day job tasks win all the time.

Schools, Colleges and Universities and any knowledge based learning teach you strategy, but fail to teach you how to achieve the strategies, this is up to you to figure out in most cases. The 5 step process below will give you a process to follow, if you apply DISIPLINE and COMMITMENT to this process, your will achieve your objectives.

DISIPLINE is being organised and to be prepared to say no when you have your IMPORATNT tasks to do when and URGENT issue crops up. Developing systems to cope with this occurrence is the key. Most URGENT and IMPORTANT issues are not, they just seem to be by someone else. Use a Triage system, only deal with an issue if it is absolutely vital to the business, otherwise, delegate or put it off until after you have completed your IMPORTANT task.

COMMITMENT is like being the lead climber going ahead without any rope, or burning the bridges so you can’t go back. If you can’t commit to complete the task on time, then don’t be part of the team. Commitment is a choice and your decision, decide with integrity.

5 Steps to Achieving Your Objectives

Step1 – Set Impact Objectives

These are the objectives that will create the biggest impact on your business to help drive it towards your vision. What are your top 3 major objectives that will really make a huge difference to your business?

You should only set up to 3 objectives per team, otherwise you will not achieve your desired results. Set too many objectives and you will end up with none complete. Keep it simple.

Step 2 – Build the Team

Select members for your team; make notes of their strengths and weaknesses. Select the leader and have agreement from the team.

Step 3 – Measurable Actions

Develop with the team the measurable actions required to drive the objective to completion. For example, if the objective was to lose weight, the actions would be to reduce calorie intake and increase exercise frequency.

The actions are the drivers, without them the objective could not be achieved, the actions have to be measured and achieved to deliver the results.

Step 4 – Create the Score Boards

There are 2 score board to create:

1. The Objective Score Board. In the weight loss example you could take weekly measurements and plot them on a graph.
2. The Action Score Board. In the weight loss example this could be a graph to show how many calories are being eaten each day compared with the planned number of calories to be eaten.

Step 5 – Hold Weekly Workshops

This is the most important step and the one that will help you achieve the objective. This step requires real DISCIPLINE. If you can win the battle between URGENT and IMPORTANT Tasks, you will win the war.

The agenda for the weekly meeting is very simple:

1. Report on your achievements last week.
2. Update the score boards
3. Agree and commit to your tasks for this week.

The meeting should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. It’s about discipline and commitment. If the objective is worth doing the discipline and commitment should not be an issue. If it becomes an issue then you need to find out what the underlying problems are, deal with them and move on.

Each team member must come to the meeting with the bad and well as the good news. The team is there to support and guide, leave all ego’s at home. The purpose is Objective Achievement.

You can use the Red, Amber, Green (RAG) system to measure actions. Amber sets the action goal, Green indicates action success, Red represents action failure, if something goes RED you must put it into intensive care and bring back to green.
