Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes – I Miss You (A Tribute to Teddy)

Theodore DeReese “Teddy” Pendergrass, Sr. (March 26, 1950 – January 13, 2010) was an American R&B/soul singer and songwriter. Pendergrass first rose to fame as lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes in the 1970s before a successful solo career at the end of the decade. In 1982, he was severely injured in an auto accident in Philadelphia, resulting in his being paralyzed from the waist down. After his injury, the affable entertainer founded the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, a foundation which helps those with spinal cord injuries.

Teddy Pendergrass was born to Ida Geraldine Epps and Jesse Pendergrass (murdered in 1962), who left when Pendergrass was young and was not a part of his life. He was a student at the old Thomas Edison High School for Boys in Philadelphia. Teddy sang with the Edison Mastersingers. However, he dropped out in the 11th grade to go into the music business. According to author Robert Ewell Greene, Pendergrass was ordained a minister as a youngster. Later he was to become a drummer for a band, and later lead singer. The church was his initiation for talent and eventual success.

Pendergrass’s career began when he was a drummer for The Cadillacs, which soon merged with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Melvin invited Pendergrass to become the lead singer after he jumped from the rear of a stage and started singing his heart out. Months later the group signed with Gamble & Huff on the then-CBS subsidiary Philadelphia International Records in 1972. The Blue Notes had hits such as “I Miss You,” “Bad Luck,” “Wake Up Everybody,” the two million seller “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” and many more. Following personality conflicts between Melvin and Pendergrass, Pendergrass launched a solo career and released hit singles like “The More I Get the More I Want,” “Close the Door,” “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” “Turn Off the Lights” and others.[1]
His first solo album was self titled Teddy Pendergrass (1977), followed by Life is a Song Worth Singing (1978), Live Coast to Coast and Teddy (1979), 1980’s TP and the final Philadelphia International Records album It’s Time for Love (1981). He also sang a duet with Whitney Houston on “Hold Me”, from her self-titled debut album.

On March 18, 1982, in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on Lincoln Drive, Pendergrass was involved in an automobile accident. The brakes failed on his 1981 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit, causing the car to hit a guard rail, cross into the opposite traffic lane, and hit two trees. Pendergrass and his passenger, Tenika Watson, a transsexual nightclub performer with whom Pendergrass was casually acquainted, were trapped in the wreckage for 45 minutes. While Watson walked away from the accident with minor injuries, Pendergrass suffered a spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.

In August 1982, PIR also released This One’s for You, while Pendergrass was recovering from his accident. In 1983, the album Heaven Only Knows was released. This was his last album containing his pre-accident recordings. Ten years after the accident, he recorded a version of “One Shining Moment,” the theme for March Madness Basketball on CBS.

After completing physical therapy, he returned to the studio to record the album Love Language, featuring the 1984 ballad “Hold Me”, a duet with a then-unknown Whitney Houston. He also returned to the public for a performance on July 13, 1985, at the historic Live Aid concert in Philadelphia, then continued to record throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1996, he starred alongside Stephanie Mills in the touring production of the gospel musical Your Arms Too Short to Box with God. In 1998, Pendergrass released his autobiography entitled, Truly Blessed.

Though generally inactive in his later years, Pendergrass’ Wake Up Everybody has been covered by a diverse range of acts from Simply Red to Patti Labelle and was chosen as a rallying cry during the 2004 Presidential campaign by Kenneth Babyface Edmunds to mobilize voters. In addition, Little Brother, Kanye West, CamRon, Twista, Ghostface, 9th Wonder, DMX and Green Lantern have utitized his works.

In 2006, Pendergrass announced his retirement from the music business. In 2007, he briefly returned to performing to participate in Teddy 25: A Celebration of Life, Hope & Possibilities, a 25th anniversary awards ceremony that marked Pendergrass’ accident date, but also raised money for his charity, The Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, and honored those who helped Pendergrass since his accident.

In 2009, Pendergrass underwent surgery for colon cancer and had difficulty recovering from that disease from which he eventually died on January 13, 2010, at age 59, while hospitalized at Bryn Mawr Hospital in suburban Philadelphia

Fallout 3 Side Quests – Strictly Business part2of2

- You can start this quest the first time you discover Paradise Falls and attempt to enter it. A guard/slaver (Grouse) will approach you and tell you that you cannot enter Paradise Falls unless you have business there. He will offer to let you in only if you go and enslave selected people off his VIP list. He will split half the profit with you for each person. He will let you in to Paradise Falls after you have enslaved at least one person. If you attempt to enter Paradise Falls by walking past Grouse and the other gate guard before you have enslaved at least one person, you will hear the other guard give you two verbal warnings to leave (without entering into dialog mode with you).. If you are still inside the gate a short while after that second warning, Grouse and his associate will attack you. In fact, all of Paradise falls will become hostile to you at that point.

- This quest involves enslaving several characters for the slavers of Paradise Falls. Enslaving is done with the Mesmetron and a Slave Collar, which you will get from Grouse as well as the notes Slave Collar Insructions, Mesmetron Manual and List of “Recruits”. (Make sure to return to him after each slave to collect a new slave collar for the next one.)

- Alternatively you can bribe Grouse with 500 caps to let you in, postponing this quest, or skipping it altogether.

- It is possible to get in without completing the quest if you’ve got very bad karma. You can also get in without completing the quest through a speech check.

- Another option is to kill everyone in the slave camp. Doing so will get you a lot of good karma, and access to free supplies from the shops in town. However this option will not allow you to start/complete this quest. You will miss out the achievement.

Note: If you are seen enslaving an NPC, the inhabitants of the town you’re in may become hostile. Try enslaving in sneak mode, while no one is around, or simply run out of the area and come back later.

- Putting on the Slave Collar will lower your Karma by 100, regardless of who you put it on (including Arkansas).

- Flak, Red, Susan, and Arkansas end up in the slave house once you capture them. If your science skill is high enough, you can get their collars off. However, they simply wander out and get killed by the slavers. Moreover, Arkansas starts shooting at anyone wearing a slave collar, once you free him.

- It is possible to pickpocket all the Paradise Falls slavers ammo, arm Flak and Arkansas to the teeth (via reverse-pickpocketing) and unleash the two of them on a rampage. Be sure to free Flak first or he will be Arkansas’ first victim. Equipment priorities suggest both men excel with small guns. Once the escape is underway, you can physically obstruct the slavers melee group as your shooters use ranged tactics. This is a good way to eliminate the rude peons of Paradise Falls, gain lots of weapons/ammo, and still remain friendly to the local merchants.

- Even after the quest is completed, Grouse will give you a slave collar. Sometimes it glitches and you end up with more than one. Slave collars can’t be dropped, since they’re quest items. However, you can use them on other NPCs, and get a caps as a reward from Grouse.

- If you mezz someone in a secluded area where nobody can see you, except maybe your victim, then you just wait 24 hours immediately after telling them to go to Paradise Falls. If done correctly nobody should be aware of what you have done! (tested on PS3 and Xbox360)

- If you would like to visit Shrapnel for shopping later in the game, you can kill Flak without getting caught. If you can visit Rivet City at night and find Flak just outside his door you can plant a grenade on him, if able, this both eliminates Flak and gets the Psychotic Prankster achievement if you have not received it yet. If you cannot plant the grenade, you could use a Stealth Boy.

- Following the quest if you choose to help the slaves escape (such as Flak or Red) always be sure to use the “Wait” feature if you don’t want to engage in combat and lay waste to Paradise Falls. Once they are walking calmly to the exit, before they have entered combat with a slaver or have been seen by one, simply wait an hour or two. This will transport them directly to their destination and save you an entire settlement to do business in that you would have otherwise had to destroy.

Market Notes On the Road to? Featuring Bob Hope

Market notes are themed to Bob Hope on the road pictures. I talk about the Yuan USD peg and how that plays into the China imperative to replace US demand, a strange bow shot across the US bow with protection of domestic intellectual property, no court findings needed. Goldman and Buffet eye CIT business in some warped PR spin, with Bloomberg in tow as the propaganda engine. Electronic robots continue to trade on low volume vapors. The three classes of people in gold, be aware that deflationary forces are out there. It all depends on intervention and confidence. The FED needs to raise rates before it gets too late. The DOW and Gold need to diverge and have granularity between assets. Gold needs to break from the DOW an become the asset of quality. Newsletters and investment thesis’s, be careful of them.. I call “the depression” something NR won’t do. Currency crisis could happen overnight forget about making USD denominated toilet paper.

Sap Business One Data Integration Via Odbc Queries

SAP B1 is open for external data integration, such technologies as EDI, Sales and Purchase Order Processing in partner networks through several tools.  Assuming that you are small or mid-size business, likely that you would like to use free instruments, versus purchasing something comparable to your SAP BO software cost (iBolt for example).  In this small publication we would like to review free SBO integrating methods: Data Transformation Workbench, SAP Business One SDK programming:

1.       First of all we would like reassure you that in the integration you can go beyond simple Microsoft Excel templates filling up and saving them in CSV format.  Instead you should think about flexibility of ODBC connection for SB1 Data Transformation Workbench or even direct manipulation of SAP Business One objects in SB1 SDK or Software Development Kit

2.       ODBC connection in Data Transformation Workbench.  SB1 DTW was intended for initial data conversion or ongoing data import to SAP Business One.  You may also know that if you are using CSV files – you can schedule DTW integration in Batch file.  In this scenario, if you have external legacy Database: Oracle, DB2, Lotus Notes, Pervasive SQL, Ctree, Microsoft Access, or even tab delimited text file – then using MS SQL Server Data Transformation Package you can reshape the export from your legacy application and save it into CSV templates to be imported in scheduled batch job.  ODBC connection at this time is not supported for automatic scheduling by SB1 DTW.  Instead, you can create SQL views, including cross-platform views (where data is pulled from non-Microsoft Database: PHP mySQL for example) and having simple DTW operator procedure import them on demand

3.       SAP Business One EDI programming.  If you are working in the small company, but you are at the same time reasonably technical, then you don’t have to purchase SB1 EDI add-ons and configuration tools.  Instead you can deploy SQL DTS package, reading EDI text file and transforming it into CSV DTW templates or opening it to the DTW via ODBC SQL view

4.       SAP BO SDK programming.  SDK opens unlimited access to SB1 objects and their creation, modification and deletion.  SAP B1 SDK programming requires programmer certification, which might lead you to the idea to subcontract SB1 SDK software development project to your SAP Business One Technology Partner and Reseller

Succeeding At An Online Business Administration Degree

An online business administration degree helps students understand how businesses work, so that students emerge from their degree ready to take on positions and job opportunities in the business world. A course of study can include courses in global business strategy, management information systems, management, marketing, accounting and finance, human resources, organizational behavior, and communication, to name just a few. Once students graduate, they can qualify for jobs in management, human resources, finance, or sales and marketing.

While choosing to complete an online business administration degree can boost your career and can allow you to study on your own terms, it also requires work and dedication, especially if you want to make the most of your education. Online programs give you plenty of flexibility and allow you to work at your current job, even as you prepare for a better job. To get the best post-graduation possibilities, though, you will want to study smart so that you can succeed at your degree program.

One of the most important things you can do to ensure that your online business administration degree leads to great opportunities in the future is to make sure that you select the right degree program for you. Make sure that your course of studies allows you access to professors and qualified faculty by phone or email. Make sure that you will get the resources and help you need to succeed in school. Finally, make sure that you will be pursuing your studies at a respected institution that hires great faculty. When all of this is in place, your degree will be more valuable and you will have all the tools in place to do your best at your studies.

The second thing to remember is that an online business administration degree is your responsibility. While this sort of program can offer you intensive studies that can help you qualify for a great job sooner, you need to make sure that you have the self-discipline to put work into the program. Buy a planner or calendar and block out time to study, review your notes, read course materials, and complete any projects that require work. Read over your course outlines to understand exactly what will be expected of you and block the time into your schedule so that you can complete everything on time. The good news is that since online programs are so flexible, you will be able to plan your study time around your other responsibilities. If you plan well, this can actually help you become a better student.

Be sure to find out what resources your school offers and make a serious effort to make use of them. Your tuition pays for these resources, and you can often get more value from your degree by taking advantage of all that your degree offers. If you have email access to professors, for example, be sure to get in touch with your instructors. If your school offers study skill help, be sure to take advantage of this so that you can become an even more effective student. You can never be sure which resources will prove the most beneficial for you, so give them all a try to see just how much you can learn.

A good online business administration degree can be your key to a bright future. However, it is not usually enough to just complete your course of studies. Make a real effort to complete your studies well and to get the most out of your program and you will find that your investment of time and money pays off in the opportunities and skills you will be able to enjoy.

The Journey Into Entrepreneurship; Starting A Small Business

For most of us there comes a day when we toy with the idea of starting a small business; work stress and frustrated career goals can often leave us thirsting for autonomy and starting a small business seems to fit the bill. But for those who are thinking of starting a small business, the road can be one of sacrifice and learning.

Before starting a small business do as much research as possible. Talk to other people who have started a small business and are willing to give you some guidance, read books by people who have a passion for entrepreneurship, and get online to read as much as possible about the ins and outs of starting a small business. On the Internet you’ll also have access to advocacy organizations developed to help those starting a small business; as well as access to chat forums where you can learn from the experiences of others in your situation

Locally there should also be organizations that can help you in starting a small business. Look at the business advocacy groups in your local area that can offer guidance.

Gather as much information as you can and keep careful notes. Remember that this business will be a reflection of you and as such should mirror the philosophies to which you subscribe. Starting a small business is not the same for everyone; take your own special circumstances into account before beginning your journey.

Depending on the business you are starting, it may also be in your best interest to hire legal counsel. A lawyer can help you navigate the complexities of small business ownership and save you time and money further down the road.

Additionally, a lawyer who is well-versed in online commerce can help you establish an online presence if starting a small business for you includes an Internet component.

Also, if starting a small business for you means bringing on employees, a lawyer is essential to your success. Hiring employees opens you up to a whole new set of liabilities; save yourself any complications by having a lawyer by your side to protect you.

Starting a small business can be a wonderfully rewarding experience. Put your best foot forward by facing each challenge and arming yourself with knowledge. Careful research and meticulous planning will reward you with success and the greatest possibility of future and continued viability.
